The Local Organising Committee of the 2017 Conference of the Language Associations of Southern Africa and the respective Associations invites proposals for paper presentations and poster exhibitions.
The conference is hosted under the auspices of the NRF South African Research Chair Initiative (SARChI) on Intellectualisation of African Languages, Multilingualism and Education and the National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences’ Catalytic Project on Concept Formation in African Languages. In 2013 Rhodes University’s African Language Studies Section in the School of Languages and Literatures was awarded the prestigious NRF South African Research Chair Initiative (SARChI) on Intellectualisation of African Languages, Multilingualism and Education. The primary objective of the Research Chair is to undertake scientific and innovative research on African languages, focussing on the role the languages can play in fostering meaningful participation of all in education, as well as promoting a multilingual society.
Participants may submit papers relating to the conference theme or any of the following fields regardless of the conference theme: • Applied Linguistics • Language Practice • Linguistics • Language Teaching • Lexicography • Literature
